The No-Disc Situation

GTA VI's box comes with a one-time download code, not a disc — redeem it once and it's locked to your PlayStation or Xbox account forever, no reselling, no lending. For an $80–$100 game that's caused real backlash: retailers pushing back, petitions, even politicians weighing in. Rockstar's hinted a real physical version ships "in the following months," but it's unclear if that's before or after launch.

The PC Situation

GTA VI launches console-only. PC gamers have to wait — probably 1–2 years based on GTA V's pattern. If you're PC only, GTA V with mods is genuinely a different game and worth every penny right now. No cap the modding community keeps it alive.

Best value play

GTA V on PC with mods is one of the best value propositions in gaming. If you have a PS5 or Series X, GTA VI at $79.99 (or $99.99 for Ultimate) is worth every dollar. If you're on last-gen or PC only — GTA V is your W for now.

Verdict: Depends on your setup

PS5 / Series X → buy GTA VI, no hesitation. PC → wait for the PC version or enjoy GTA V with mods. Last-gen console → GTA V is still the move, GTA VI isn't coming to your platform.
